Are these websites actually a profitable venture? The Internet is full of gimmicks and schemes promising wealth in ridiculous short periods of time. Unfortunately there are always people that fall for “Get Rich Quick” schemes.

However these can be legitimate sources of income, which will produce money if you invest time and strategy. Most of these web sites are automated and eliminate the process of having to update your new websites on a daily basis giving you extra time which can be spent on promoting your site and driving traffic to it.

For the most part these sites generate income from different sources. Most have two to three sources of income and each source should differ from the other. The best combination of sources would be a pay per click program like Google Adsense combined with a pay per sale affiliate program like Ebay or Amazon. This is ideal as it gives you the opportunity to generate income from your site daily with the pay per click program even if you do not make a sale through your other pay per sale affiliate program(s). The content of your web site updates through a script implemented with your affiliate code, your Adsense ads will also have your specific code which you can provide the seller or implement your self once you join the program and have access to the code and site.

Results with these sites vary dramatically. Most of the companies and people who sell Affiliate Program Web Sites include in their sales pitch domain, design, optimization, automation and any other bells and whistles. Make sure you understand that even with the promises of search engine optimization you may not see the benefits of that until months after you purchased the web site if at all. Most sales pitches fail to qualify the buyer that like any other business you will need to put in some time. Basic optimization, search engine submissions are all included and can help but if you just sit there waiting for your site to start producing you will not be successful. The most successful Affiliate Program Web Sites have a niche, the domain, theme and content are centered around a niche. This narrows down your perspective visitor and targets a specific customer looking for what you have to sell.

Make sure to deal with companies which provide more than just the site, the best companies provide free ebooks, access to a website with useful information, customer support.

To sum things up, it is possible to generate income with Affiliate Program Web Sites; the amount depends on how much time you are willing to put into your venture. You can start with one site and grow, I know people making good income with one site and others who are making incredible income with multiple sites. Good Luck!

When it comes to online business I prefer using these dictionary definitions:

a place or position suitable or appropriate for a person or thing: to find one’s niche in the business world.

a distinct segment of a market.

So now that we are clear on the definition comes the question, how do we select our very own niche?

For some people it is a very easy process, they build their online business on something that interests them. Simple as that! For others it can be a more difficult process. For the people who already have a passion for a distinctive subject or item it can be easy to build around their theme but it still may not be profitable. The Movie Field of Dreams starring Kevin Costner used a line that has become a cliche “If you build it, they will come”. That may work in Hollywood but it isn’t quite that easy in the competitive online business world. Reports on how many websites exist in the entire world differ and range from about 62 million to over 108 million distinct websites. Thats a ton of competition. So just cause you have built it, doesn’t mean anyone is going to come.

It goes without saying that the purpose of starting any business including an online business is to be profitable. It can take some a few months to create a successful business, others may take years while many others fail. Even if you have have a specific interest and build around it, does not automatically guarantee you success. Demand for what you are promoting and reaching that demand is the most important aspect of a successful business venture.

Selecting your niche, should however start with your interests and expertise. Then you need to research and see if your expertise or interests are in demand. It can be as easy as using Google to search a term. Then start reading some of the results. You will have a good grasp of peoples interest in what you want to promote or sell. From there you narrow down your category and start creating a specific niche. In one of my free e-books I give an example of how you can narrow down a category and create a successful niche for yourself.

If you do not have a particular set of expertise or interests with high demand don’t despair just choose a category which is in demand and create your niche around it. I have created websites with themes centered around what is popular today. I spend time researching the topic and learning the basics relating to such a topic. You have to put in some time and research, do not go into your business venture blind, it will only increase your chances for failure. If you are not willing to put in the time then you should not be looking to start an online business.

My company specializes in creating automated affiliate ready niche websites. We pretty much do all the work for our customers. We have pre-built niche websites which are optimized, automated so potential customers do not have to spend hours updating their websites. The sites update themselves. Visit us any time for more information. I hope this article provided you with valuable information, at the very least you won’t be asking yourself what is a niche.

Hundreds if not thousands of new websites go live everyday. Many of these are created by your average Joe. Here are some Top Website Mistakes to avoid which your average Joe may not think or even know about.

1. Excessive Pop Ups

There is nothing more annoying than entering a site and getting hit with a pop up or two, sometimes even three or four. This can be an instant turn off for your visitor. He or she may never come back to your site. When looking to monetize your new website, you need to take your visitor into consideration. Do you want to have returning visitors or do you just not care? Most webmasters would like to have loyal visitors and greeting them with pop ups would not seem like a proper welcome. The reality is that a majority of visitors relate pop ups with viruses. Even if other visitors do not equate pop ups with viruses it annoys them. Try avoiding pop ups or at the very least excessive use of them.

2. Excessive Banners

Similar to pop ups, having an excessive amount of banners can make navigation of your website confusing and difficult. This can be a nuisance and deter a visitor from coming to your site again. Flashy banners that blink and move can distract your visitor as well. We all want to make money with our websites but over advertising with banners and pop ups can only cost you in the long run. Creating and accumulating loyal visitors is the key. Over advertising with too many banners and pop ups is another error new webmasters make.

3. Website Optimization

Or the lack thereof. Most new webmasters have no clue on how to optimize their websites. We have all been there as new webmasters. There is no guarantee you will get top positions no matter how good you think you are. You can definitely help your cause by doing a very basic optimization of your pages. The first mistake new webmasters make once they grasp the idea of optimization is to only work on the front page or homepage of their websites. Ignoring all the other pages and potential traffic generating content. You should optimize every single page which will contain content you want people to see. This topic can be discussed for ever and would be impossible to completely cover within this article. A small book can be written regarding this specific category. I will continue with optimization below but will discuss “keywords”.

4. Keywords

Selecting keywords is extremely important, building articles/pages around your keywords can help you get better positioning with search engines. I will share a small example of another common mistake with new webmasters and optimization. OK so you finally understand optimization and keywords. Lets say you love Harley Davidson Motorcycles and create a website with that theme. Whats your next step for optimizing and selecting keywords. Using “Harley Davidson” ofcourse, NOT! The chances of you getting a high ranking with the keywords “Harley Davidson” are astronomical, especially for a brand new website. Go to Google and type in “Harley Davidson”, there are 33,400,000 search results on the net for that set of keywords. There are about 8,000 searches daily for that term. To put it in layman’s terms, 8,000 visitors have over 33 million search results to chose from. That is way too much competition for you, so avoid it. Start of with something more reachable, maybe “Harley Davidson History” with 17,100 search results and about 100 daily searches from web surfers. This may still be a little high so just keep looking for a better set of keywords which are obtainable.

There are more Top Website Mistakes to cover. We will be discussing some more in future articles so stay tuned.
